A luminous wonderland

During the cold and dark December days Amsterdam has a great new challenge for your artistic eye. Slightly more futuristic than the classic Dutch masters you had planned to see, yet a great ode to the heritage of the city.

From November 30th, 2017 until January 21st, 2018 Amsterdam is full of illuminated sculptures, projections and light installations that will blow your mind. These are not just a few flashy light bulbs, this is the Amsterdam Light Festival. Wonder around town and discover how the best artists have put their spotlights on the city in the most contemporary way.

A pleasant way to peek at all that beauty is simply by foot: the Illuminade Tour (from December 14th, 2017 until January 7th, 2018) guides you past al the stunning fluorescent artifacts. And the good thing is that it won’t cost you a penny.  You’ll walk your own way through a few lovely hidden neighborhoods and discover how each artwork gently gives new meaning to the public space.

Water colors

By now you also know that Amsterdam is packed with lots of water: all those beautiful canals and waterways were probably even the main reason for you to visit our beloved city. During the Amsterdam Light Festival weeks all that water gets a little more attention.

The centuries-old canals will be lit up by the cutting edge projections. Some of them you cannot miss, others will loom up by surprise. Hop onto a boat and discover the story behind all the luminous scenes that bring an ode to the city’s most precious asset: the canals.

Pulitzer’s Boat

Also Pulitzer’s gorgeous classic salon sails out each day at 5 pm, for you to explore the bright pieces of light. We recommend to bring a nice warm cloak, because you would definitely want to see this December spectacle from the red velvet on the quarter-deck of our vessel.
