Ice-skating on Museum Square

Although Amsterdam isn’t known for its traditional Christmas markets, Ice*Amsterdam on Museumplein makes for a good alternative – complete with an outdoor ice-skating rink, market stalls and festive food & drink offerings. And all of this with the most magical backdrop of Amsterdam; the Rijksmuseum.

In the month December, Museumplein (Museum Square) will transform into an Amsterdam Christmas village. Take the opportunity to skate under (the replica of) the Skinny Bridge on the ice rank to complete the Amsterdam winter feeling. After the skate session there is no better way to warm yourself up than in the après ski bar with a mug of hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine… or two! This popular all ages event is worth a visit!

This show is free of charge and really provides the most impressive light show in the city.

Want to enjoy a festive feast in a typical Amsterdam setting before watching the fireworks? Restaurant Jansz. offers a special four course menu for the occasion. Please visit the Jansz. website to view the menu and make a reservation.
