Four reasons to visit Amsterdam in January

While we will wrap up the festive season at the end of December, January is all about new beginnings. Dive in the North Sea with over 40.000 people, collect tulips on Dam square or dance the night away in different hotels throughout the city. These four events are a must-visit during your getaway to Amsterdam:

National Tulip Day
With over 200.000 tulips, the Dam square will turn into a one-day tulip field to kick-off the Dutch tulip season. From 13:00 until 16:30, visitors are welcome to walk through the tulip garden and collect as many tulips as they can carry. With the best news not even mentioned; all tulips are free of charge!

For all inhabitants of Amsterdam or so-called “Amsterdammers”; the third weekend of January is entirely dedicated to the Hotelnacht! Be a tourist in your own city while spending a night in a hotel of your choice. This year, Pulitzer’s Bar will transform into Frosty Palace for one night; Grease lightning all the way. Join us for a milkshake-cocktail, jukebox music, hamburgers and petticoats. It’s going to be electrifying! Oh – and it’s not for locals only, everyone’s welcome! Not for over 40.000 people who have embraced this New Year’s Dive as an annual tradition. Not specifically an Amsterdam event, but worth a try if you want to make the start of 2019 memorable!
