It’s a new month; the month of flowers, the fifth month of the year and also, the start of outdoor festival season!

Amsterdam is beautiful all year round, but it really lives and shines when the sun’s out. A cloudy forecast? Not an issue, since there are plenty of interesting museums. Hereby some suggestions.

Het Weekend van de Rollende Keukens

Food, drinks and music, what else do you need?! The annual food-festival, Het Weekend van de Rollende Keukens, with more than 110 food trucks serves all kinds of superb food and drinks – national and international. Listen to live music while enjoying tasteful bites and unique beverages. During this weekend, Westerpark will change into one sociable event. Vondelpark Openluchttheater

Curious about the cultural hotspot of Amsterdam? From May to October the weekends will be filled with cultural performances. Admire young talents and well-known artists in the biggest park of Amsterdam: Vondelpark. Dance, live music, cabaret, classic music and youth performances; amusement for all ages!

Remembrance Day & Liberation Day

Every year, on the 4th of May at 8pm, our country is silent for 2 minutes for the Dutch victims of World War II, other war situations and peace missions. The next day on the 5th of May, the people celebrate Liberation Day. Freedom is commemorated with festivals spread over the country. Some of Amsterdam’s finest festivals are Het Vrije Westen, Het Amsterdams Verbond, Vrijland and KinderBevrijdingsfestival.

Moco Museum

Have you heard about the Moco museum? Located next to Museumplein (museum quarter) you will find an extraordinary villa filled with quirky art. The Banksy exhibition contains around 50 original works by this street art legend. Besides Banksy, a temporary collection of art from Roy Lichtenstein can be admired until the 25th of May. He is one of the greatest contemporary art interpreters and a master of Pop Art.
